How we check
Every fact on this site comes from a state government source: the DMV, DPS, Secretary of State, Department of Revenue, state insurance department, or the state’s published statutes. Each fact shows the link it came from and the date we last checked it.
- Official sources only. A build-time check rejects any fact whose source is not an official state site. Insurance companies, quote sites, law firms and lead-generation sites are blocked.
- No guessing. If a state doesn’t publish something (for example, whether it uses an SR-22 after a DUI), we write “Not published.”
- No prices. We never estimate or compare insurance premiums.
- Typical first offense. State pages summarize the first-offense, adult, non-commercial case. Repeat offenses, high BAC, under-21 and commercial drivers often face longer penalties.
- Rechecked regularly. We recheck pages and add states over time. The date on each fact shows when it was last checked.
